San Jose woman ordered to stand trial for wallet thefts

Renetha Shalee Thomas is charged with 6 counts of identity theft, 9 counts of petty theft with a prior and 6 counts of elder abuse, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.

Thomas waived a preliminary hearing and was held Thu to answer on the charges.

Prosecutors contend Thomas stole the wallets of women she encountered in stores between Aug. nineteen and Dec. 30. Credits cards inside the wallets were then allegedly used to make purchases.

8 of the victims were between 61 and 89 years old and one was 45 years old, according to prosecutors.
